At Glenn Bell Fly Fishing we teach and coach fly fishers from beginners to advanced anglers. We have taken many of our best clients to that "next level."  From expert casting instruction, fly selection, or reading "trout water," we offer suggestions where we can in a low-key, encouraging manner.  We are not high pressure guides!

This page will explain some of the many fishing locations in Southwest Montana.  While every fly fishing trip is a custom trip, this information is a good place to start.  Once you see something you like, click on the Request a Reservation link and we can see if your desired dates are available.

Also, if you would like to read more in-depth information on the rivers, click the hyperlinked name of the river.  To return to this page, just click the Start Here link at the top of any page.

The Madison River - Request a Reservation
The Madison River begins at the confluence of the Firehole and Gibbon Rivers at Madison Junction in Yellowstone National Park.  The Madison River is one of the best fishing spots in the world.  This river is a big part of what put West Yellowstone, Montana on the map as a premier fishing destination.  Fly fishing on the Madison River is truly as good as it gets.  Combine the good summer weather of Southwest Montana and a world class fishing river, and you have a truly unique experience.

The Gallatin River - Request a Reservation
The headwaters of the Gallatin River are in Yellowstone National Park.  The Gallatin and Fan Creek meet up near mile marker 22 on US Highway 191 then tumbles and turns down the Gallatin canyon, past Big Sky and eventually joins the Jefferson, and Madison Rivers at Three Forks, Montana forming the Missouri River.  Depending on where you put in, don't be surprised to see wildlife enjoying the river also.

The Yellowstone River - Request a Reservation
The Yellowstone River is fishable both inside and outside Yellowstone Park.  This free flowing river has abundant aquatic insect hatches that no other western river has.  Whether inside Yellowstone Park or fishing in Paradise Valley, the views from this river may find you distracted from watching your fly.

Note:  All Yellowstone National Park guided fishing trips are booked through Arricks Fly Shop in West Yellowstone, Montana.

The Missouri River - Request a Reservation
All of the rivers listed above ultimately end up feeding the Missouri River, the headwaters of which start in Yellowstone Park.  One of the largest rivers in America and the world, the best fly fishing parts of the Missouri take you into remote areas where the water flow is just picking up steam.  Fishing the Missouri River lets you tell your friends and family that you were at the start of one of the worlds most important waterways.
